Ennerdale Scout Centre

In the heart of Wild Ennerdale

Activities

Both the Lower and Higher Fells are easily accessed directly from the grounds of the Centre and can offer rewarding challenges for all abilities and levels of experience or just a leisurely stroll along the lake shore.

A short track from the Centre provides access to Ennerdale Water wherey permit up to 12 paddle-craft to operate from the Centre. Sail and Powered craft are not permitted on Ennerdale Water as it is presently designated a reservoir and provides water for the west of the County.

The River Ehen which outfalls Ennerdale Water is designated a “Special Area of
Conservation” (SAC) and also a “Site of Special Scientific Interest” (SSSI) due to the only sustainable colony of fresh-water mussels residing in the river adjacent to our Centre. Because of this SSSI designation, the river itself and the riverbank are out of bounds for any activities.

A selection of Orienteering Courses can be accessed from the Centre and both Maps and Control Cards are available from the Warden for a small fee.
